About us:

Archive of the People (AOP) is a registered society, and collective that addresses the governance on records and the fair use of archival materials.

Archive of the People puts the established value, dominated historical and political narrative into question; at first, AOP engages Archive on epistemological level – the nature of records in public sphere and how “past” and “memory” are constituted with various archival materials; on the other hand, “People” suggests an anonymous or semi-anonymous crowd, who are essential contributors of history, social value and knowledge but somehow being overlooked. The collective takes on a broader perspective on archival practice, to conceive a framework that facilitates social discourse, through socio-political research and creative means to challenge the homogeneity in multiple aspects.

About the open call:

AOP calls the archival governance in public art institutes in question, as well as how the materials are managed in physical repository and online platform. To manifest that art can be a constructive and subversive form of engaging the notion of archiving, AOP is developing a robust Art(ist) Searching Engine, which 1) facilitates searching scattered artist information on internet; 2) analyses artist website with statistics; 3) builds a rhizomatic network that connects institutional online database and artist websites.

Now AOP needs your help!
We are asking YOU to contribute your website URL with an array of keywords. In the next couple months, we will recruit art practitioners to modify the searching engine in collective manner. Please see the following for the submission form and T&C.
